MANILA - The Social Security System (SSS) said Friday there will be a delay in the release of checks for salary loan, death, disability, retirement, sickness and maternity claims for some 106,950 members and pensioners due to check printer malfunctions.

Checks for claims submitted starting May 22 will be delayed, the SSS said. The pension fund said repair works are underway and "the SSS aims to have the checks ready for delivery to PhilPost starting June 8."

The pension fund however assured the public that it was coordinating with PhilPost for special handling of these checks for faster delivery.
