MANILA—Restaurateur Vicvic Villavicencio passed away on April 29, Monday, due to a heart attack, his family confirmed Tuesday. He was 67.

Villavicencio is the founder and president of First Foods, the company behind Dad's World Buffet, Sambo Kojin, Number 1 Barbecues, and Ogetsu Hime.

He popularized the concept of eat-all-you-can buffet dining with Dad's. Villavicencio founded Kamayan restaurant in 1977 and introduced Japanese cuisine with the Saisaki brand.

Dad's buffet is popular for offering 50-percent discounts if there are no leftovers, his family said, adding that his restaurants also do not collect service charge.
