MANILA -- Samsung unveiled late Wednesday the Galaxy A80, featuring a motorized, rotating module for its 6.7-inch screen that eliminates the need for a notch or a hole-shaped cutout.

The Galaxy A80 also comes with similar features of the pricier Galaxy S10+ such as wide angle shooting, an in-display fingerprint sensor and 25-watt fast charging.

To take a selfie, a section of the A80's top end rises and the rear cameras rotate to face the user. The phone has a 48-megapixel main lens at f2.0 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultra wide lens at f2.2 and a 3D depth sensing camera for "bokeh" or background blur effect.

Samsung's rivals Oppo and Vivo have released phones with motorized cameras to eliminate notches and cutouts. Samsung's premium S10 range featured hole-shaped cutouts.

Made from metal and glass, the A80 packs a 3,700 mAh battery. The 6.7-inch full HD+ Super AMOLED screen has a resolution of 1080x2400.

The phone comes with 128 gigabytes of on board storage with 8 gigabytes of RAM and will be available in white and gold. Samsung has not released local pricing.
