MANILA – Aboitiz Power Corp said Monday it launched a new solar power business geared towards rooftops as it expanded its renewable energy business.

The new company, Aboitiz Power Distributed Energy Inc or APX is set to complete several projects in Luzon and Visayas this year, AboitizPower told the stock exchange.

"We have been in the power industry for more than 80 years. This gives us a wealth of knowledge and technical capability that we can share to our customers who want to go into solar," AboitizPower president Antonio Moraza said.

AboitizPower first entered the solar market in 2016. The new venture will be under the Cleanergy brand.

Today the Aboitiz' energy group has 1,272 megawatt of net sellable capacity, together with its partners through the Cleanergy brand. The brand has a portfolio of energy plants including geothermal, run-of-river hydro and large hydro-power facilities all over the country.
