MANILA - One of the radars used by the Ninoy Aquino International Airport will be shut for six days in March and flights may be affected, the Department of Transportation said Monday.

The Tagaytay radar will be shut from March 6 to 11 to give way to maintenance and upgrade works. This will leave the country's main gateway with two working radars, the department said.

Flights "have to be reduced" during the shutdown period and airlines are expected to finalize their schedules later this week, it added.

The refurbished Tagaytay radar will be included in a new system, the Communications, Navigation, Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM), which aims to make air traffic flow safer and more efficient, the government said.
