MANILA -- An umbrella organization of travel agencies said Friday it hoped the alert level on Taal Volcano would be lowered soon to allow the tourism industry there to recover.

Tagaytay City, the region's main tourist draw, is an easy getaway from Metro Manila because it is accessible by car, Ritchie Tuano, president of the Philippine Travel Agencies Association, told ANC's Headstart.

"We are extending help already to the victims in general, probably we'll focus more on affected tourism partners," he said.

Taal is under alert level 4, the second-highest in a 5-step warning system, meaning a "hazardous explosive eruption is possible within hours to days," according to Phivolcs.

On Friday, the volcano emitted more ash, an indication that magma continues to move beneath the surface.
