Dahil prayoridad ang sariling pamilya at mga anak, iniwan ng 28 anyos na si Justine Oliveros ang dati niyang trabaho sa isang cell center.

Pinili ni Oliveros na pumasok sa isang home-based job at halos 3 taon na siyang English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher.

Ikinuwento ni Oliveros na may kakayahang kumita ang mga tulad niyang ESL teacher ng P15,000 hanggang P80,000 kada buwan, depende sa oras na handang gugulin sa pagtuturo sa loob ng isang araw.

"Basta masipag ka. Siyempre ikaw rin bahala sa kikitain mo, kung magpa-plot ka ng schedule mo," ani Oliveros.

Sa ganoong trabaho, kailangan lamang na may sariling computer at mabilis na internet connection.

Isa rin sa mga pangunahing requirement ng mga employer ang ESL certification.

"It's an assessment and certification that you are really good in the English language," paliwanag ni Philip Gioca, JobStreet country manager, sa panayam ng ABS-CBN News.

Ayon sa JobStreet, nasa 70 porsiyento ng 1.5 milyon home-based workers sa bansa ay ESL teachers.

Sa kasalukuyan, nasa 20,000 ang bakanteng trabaho para sa mga ESL teacher.

"Tayo 'yong [may] pinakamagandang command in terms of English. Kasi 'yong English natin, very neutral, puwedeng lagyan ng slang," ani Gioca.

Bukod sa pribadong sektor, mayroon ding 3,600 teaching positions ang bakante at maaaring aplayan ngayon sa Department of Education (DepEd).

Plano rin ng DepEd na magbukas ng karagdagang 10,000 teaching positions ngayong taon.
