MANILA - The Department of Trade and Industry said Tuesday it approved the development of a food complex in Davao City, president Rodrigo Duterte's hometown.

The facility will rise on a 20-hectare property in barangay Dalio, Toril district and will serve as an economic zone for food-based industries, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said in a statement.

"The proposed Davao Food Complex will include food processing centers, cold storage and warehousing facilities with tourism attractions that will showcase the processed agricultural products of the region," Lopez said.
