Go-Jek can't set up in Philippines: LTFRB

MANILA -- The Philippines' transport regulator on Wednesday said it denied the application of Indonesia's Go-Jek to launch a ride-hailing service in the country.

Go-Jek unit Velox Technology Philippines failed to meet requirements on foreign ownership, said Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board Chairman Martin Delgra.

The Philippines caps foreign ownership in certain enterprises at 40 percent.

Ride-hailing in the Philippines is dominated by Singapore-based Grab Inc, which took over rival Uber's operations in Southeast Asia.
