Those who love the food at Poblacion nightlife staple Lampara would likely have a lot to look forward to from the new menu of The SPAM® Food Truck. The SPAM® brand collaborated with Chef RJ Ramos, co-owner of the neo-Filipino bistro, to take the comfort breakfast food we know and love and bring it to another level.

Those who regularly visit the truck at Capitol Commons, Ortigas East and Greenhills will soon have a taste of Chef RJ’s SPAM® Rice Ball—a five-ingredient, three-step SPAM® Classic recipe we recently got to try making at home—along with the SPAM® Creamy Spicy Musubi, SPAM® Cheeseburger, SPAM® Salpicao. SPAM®desal Queso Blanco, SPAM® Takoyaki Bao and a secret dish.

SPAM® Creamy Spicy Musubi

Chef RJ is known for his creativity and confident grasp of twists on classic Filipino and international cuisine—remember his Dinakduckan at Lampara, and the tiny but packed with savory flavor rice cups that has longganisa and ubod and aligue? For his dishes at the truck, he incorporated a mix of Asian and Western influences to create even more craveable spins on the different SPAM® variants: Classic, Lite, and Less Sodium.

“SPAM® Luncheon Meat is definitely a go-to for comfort food for many Filipinos and I didn’t want to take away that sense of nostalgia when eating it at home,” Chef RJ says. “Because of its versatility, I wanted to take Asian and Western flavours we often crave for to complement the striking flavour of SPAM® Luncheon Meat.”

Among the list of the new Comfort Food menu is the SPAM® Cheeseburger as seen on the SPAM® Classic can, packed with a hearty flavour piled high with all the needed fix-ins one looks for in a juicy burger.

SPAM® Rice Balls

Taking the popular Japanese-inspired flavours of takoyaki and musubi, the SPAM® Creamy Spicy Musubi is reminiscent of the comforting sensation from your favourite spicy salmon maki while the SPAM® Takoyaki Bao stays true to the traditional umami flavour.

An ode to our Filipino heritage, the SPAM® Salpicao will please a lot of tastebuds and hungry tummies with its garlicky and savory twist using cubes of the SPAM® Less Sodium variant. The SPAM®desal Queso Blanco, also hits familiar notes reminiscent of our beloved Filipino pandesal but Chef RJ’s has a cheesy velvety sauce just to shake things up a little.

An off-the-menu, secret dish item is also exclusively available at the comfort food-themed food truck - the SPAM® Kimchi Bao. With just the right amount of spice, tang, and crunch, the SPAM® Kimchi Bao is a secret you wouldn’t want to miss out on.

The SPAM® Food Truck

Mall goers, grocery shoppers, and passerbys recently got a taste of the reinvented dishes from the comfort food-themed SPAM® Food Truck in ArcoVia.
