MANILA -- Design and architecture can make or break a building.

Apart from being functional, we all want a building that is also pleasing to the eye. With beautiful design and form, your building is guaranteed to be a head-turner on the road.

While Metro Manila has a lot of slum areas, there are also beautifully designed buildings all over the city.

Here are some of them:

1. Zuellig Building

Built in one of the most progressive cities in the metro, the Zuellig Building is a certified head-turner.

The 33-story Makati office tower is designed by American architectural, urban planning, and engineering firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in collaboration with renowned Filipino architectural firm W.V. Coscolluela & Associates.

The Zuellig Building is equipped the same sustainable technology that is being used by the Freedom Tower in New York, which placed it on the green world map.

2. The Mind Museum

A project of Bonifacio Art Foundation, Inc., The Mind Museum aims to provide "an extraordinary educational experience that inspires the public understanding of science."

Its lead architect Ed Calma of Lor Calma & Partners designed it so well, fusing modern architecture, science and art. It takes pride in its aerodynamic and grass roofs, as well as its post-modern interior design.

In 2014, it received the THEA Award for Outstanding Achievement for the Science Museum at the Disneyland Resort, Anaheim, California in the United States.

3. Art in BGC

Aside from striking architectural designs, there are various beautiful murals in the Metro. The BGC in Taguig has big-scale public art works that will stun any passer-by.

One of these is Anjo Bolarda's "Pangako" located at the Bonifacio High Street's Lane P.

Another one is Faile's "Wonderland," which you can view at One Global Place, 26th Street corner 5th Ave, BGC.

These murals created by international and local artists are a product of ArtBGC NextAct ONE Festival, which was held last May 2015. It was organized by the Bonifacio Arts Foundation.

4. Makati Stock Exchange Center

Apart from being one of the first buildings in the Makati's central business district, the Makati Stock Exchange Center has a well-preserved facade and updated interior.

Designed by National Artist for Architecture Leandro V. Locsin, the eight-story building houses column-free office spaces, function rooms, and restaurants, among others.

5. Nissan Juke

Just like these beautifully designed buildings and murals, choose a car that is not only functional but also pleasing to the eye, just like the all-new Nissan Juke.

The Juke has comfortable seats and its leather-wrapped steering wheel that ensure a seamless driving experience.

It also has an I-Con system that lets you control both the climate and driving mode with just one touch.

Featuring a striking exterior design as seen through its fiercely sculpted hood and aggressive muscular lines, the Juke is available in four colors: solar yellow, pearl white, red alert, and black obsidian.

Apart from that, this car embodies the Nissan Safety Shield Philosophy -- Nissan's comprehensive guide in engineering and designing safe cars.
