Assigning one security detail for every four Miss Universe candidates would only be one of the strict protocols the Philippine National Police will observe to secure the prestigious pageant set to begin in the country on January 15.

Around 1,300 police officers will also be deployed in Metro Manila, apart from the personnel who will be positioned in the seven regional areas the contestants will be visiting.

The PNP said there is no direct threat to the international competition, but they are joining forces with other government agencies to ensure safety and security.

Nearly 250 people including delegates, organizers, and judges will be secured from their arrival to their stay in hotels and attendance to pageant-related activities.
