Mexican boxing legend Juan Manuel Marquez has doubled down on his stance regarding a fifth bout against his rival, Filipino boxer-turned-Senator Manny Pacquiao.

The two future Hall-of-Famers have already fought four times, and it was Marquez who earned the lone decisive victory of the saga when he brutally knocked out Pacquiao in their December 2012 showdown, by landing a counter right had that sent the Filipino face first to the canvas with a second to go in the sixth round.

They had gone their separate ways since that bout – Pacquiao fought and lost to Floyd Mayweather in May 2015, beaten Timothy Bradley Jr. in April 2016 then retired, won a Senate seat, came out of retirement, and defeated Jessie Vargas just last week.

Marquez, meanwhile, lost to Bradley in October 2013 in his first bout since beating Pacquiao, then bounced back by beating Mike Alvarado in May 2014. He has not seen action since.

Pacquiao still wants to one day avenge his loss to Marquez, but the Mexican star has no intentions of fighting the "Pacman" again.

"I'm grateful that he still has me in mind," Marquez told Golpe-a-Golpe, as quoted by Boxing Scene. "I've already said it, and I'll say it to the media, and I'll say it to you, to everyone."

"A fifth fight is not warranted," he said emphatically.

Marquez said the decisive nature of his victory put an end to any possibility of a fifth fight.

"We won in a very convincing manner, and everybody knows that," he pointed out.

Had he won in controversial fashion – as Pacquiao did in their three previous encounters – then he would not hesitate to sign up for a fifth bout, he said.

"If I had beaten in a close fight, or the judges had simply handed me the fight, then I would have signed for a rematch," he said. "But it wasn't like that."

"A fifth fight is not needed."
