Former PBA pro and coach Joel Banal was rushed to the hospital Sunday after suffering a heart attack, according to an online report.

Banal was forced to undergo angioplasty on the same day, a Spin.ph report said.

Barangay Ginebra coach Tim Cone, who used to have Banal as one of his deputies during his Alaska days, is praying for the Banal's recovery.

"Just heard about Joel Banal's heart attack. Great coach, even greater person! A true gentleman," Cone said on his social media account.

"I'm praying for his complete recovery. Prayers also to his family."

Banal is one of the country's most successful basketball coaches, having won titles in the NCAA, UAAP and the PBA.

In the NCAA, he led Mapua to two straight titles before moving to the UAAP to coach Ateneo to a championship.

Banal also mentored Talk N Text to its first PBA title win.
