Kevin Alas scored 24 points, including the bucket that sent the game to double overtime, as NLEX defeated Rain Or Shine 122-114 in the PBA Governor's Cup at Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday.

Trailing 112-111 in the second extension, Alas hit a jumper that ignited a 9-0 run and sealed the Road Warriors' third win in as many starts.

Aaron Fuller registered 33 points and 20 rebounds, while Larry Fonacier added 11 points and 7 assists for NLEX, which nearly lost the game in the first extension.

Alas' game-tying basket with 2.6 seconds left in the first OT made up for a foul he committed in the previous play off a jump-ball with Chris Tiu.

Tiu made 2 free throws to put Rain Or Shine ahead 110-108, putting pressure on NLEX to score with 6.3 seconds on the clock. That's when Alas delivered, sinking a high-arching finger roll over Beau Belga.

In the second extension, NLEX tightened its defense, forcing Rain Or Shine to play sloppy basketball to help coach Yeng Guiao secure his first win against his former team since he transferred from the Elasto Painters to the Road Warriors in the offseason.

Alas added 10 rebounds and 5 assists, and committed only 1 turnover in 37 minutes in a tightly fought game that saw neither team lead by more than 10 points.

James Weatherspoon led Rain Or Shine with 20 points and 16 rebounds, but only scored 7 in the 2nd half. He missed 15 of 21 shots from the field.

Belga contributed 15 points and 9 rebounds, while James Yap had 14 points for the Elasto Painters, who fell to 1-1 in the standings.
