Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo thrilled Filipino fans in his brief visit to Manila as he hosted a bunch of activities at Glorietta Activity Center in Makati on Sunday, including a 3-on-3 competition among high school students.

Alongside Antetokounmpo were PBA stars Gabe Norwood and Ranidel de Ocampo. The event saw the "Greek Freak" usher the unveiling of a new basketball court at the Makati Science High School.

The 6-foot-11 Antetokounmpo burst into stardom in the 2016-17 NBA season, when he led the Bucks to the playoffs and was named the league's Most Improved Player. With his remarkable blend of physical tools, athleticism and skill, Antetokounmpo is widely considered as one of the most unique players in the NBA.

Antetokounmpo said he is aware of Filipinos' passion for the sport, but was still surprised at how well he was received by the fans on Sunday.

"I was aware because I have a lot of Filipino friends I played basketball with," said Antetokounmpo, who grew up in Greece to parents who were Nigerian immigrants. "But I never expected this."
