MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines' Blu Girls ended a four-game skid by defeating world No. 10 Mexico, 4-2, in the World Cup of Softball XII on Saturday at the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) Hall of Fame Complex in Oklahoma City.

The Philippine softball team was tied with Mexico, 2-2, until the top of the sixth when they pulled away thanks to Francesca Altomonte, who hit a homer to drive in two runs and seal the win.

The Blu Girls, ranked 17th in the world, opened their campaign by stunning 4th ranked Australia, 7-5, last Wednesday.

The Blu Girls are now hoping to sustain their momentum as they head to the Canada Cup International Softball Championship in Surrey, British Columbia.
There, they will play Pakistan and host Canada on July 11, and Chinese Taipei on July 12.
