BOCAUE, Bulacan—Nine Gilas Pilipinas players were ejected after a brawl with the Australian national basketball team in the FIBA World Cup Asian qualifiers on Monday night at the Philippine Arena.

In the wake of the melee that occurred with 4:01 left in the third quarter, the referees tagged Terrence Romeo, Carl Bryan Cruz, Jayson Castro, Calvin Abueva, Andray Blatche, Roger Pogoy, Troy Rosario, Matthew Wright, and Japeth Aguilar with disqualifying fouls.

Nathan Sobey, Chris Goulding, Thon Maker, and Daniel Kickert were banished from the court for Australia.

The game continued with Gilas playing 3-on-5.

It soon became a 2-on-5 situation after June Mar Fajardo fouled out at 2:26 mark of the quarter.
