MANILA, Philippines – Former University of Santo Tomas (UST) team captain Pam Lastimosa played her best game of the UAAP Season 79 tournament so far when she led the Tigresses to a three-set sweep of University of the East on Saturday.

Lastimosa compiled only 22 total points through the first round of the women's volleyball tournament as she worked her way back from an ACL injury that cost her the entirety of Season 78.

Against the Lady Warriors on Saturday, however, Lastimosa had 10 points in just two sets' of action, making seven of her 11 attacks while also tallying three aces.

"It was a good game for all of us," said Lastimosa after the Tigresses came away with a 25-21, 25-15, 25-23 victory that extended their winning streak to four matches.

"Umaangat na ang standing namin, so I'm very happy na panalo ang team," she added.

[We're rising up the standings, so I'm happy that the team won.]

Of her own performance, however, Lastimosa was not yet very satisfied.

"Siguro, kulang pa talaga," she admitted. "Kahit ako, sa sarili ko, kulang pa talaga."

[I'm still lacking.]

Before her injury, Lastimosa was an excellent all-around weapon for UST, capable of putting up big numbers on offense while also proving to be solid on defense. Since her return, however, Lastimosa has only shown flashes of her old form.

Lastimosa believes that with more work and more time, she can regain that form.

"More of mentally, mentally prepared dapat," she said. "And 'wag matakot magkamali, and training lang."

[It's about mental preparation. I should be mentally prepared. I can't be afraid to make mistakes, and I should keep training.]

Lastimosa is also confident that the Tigresses can keep improving, and build upon their winning streak. The key for them, she said, is communication.

"We should communicate always," she said. "Noong nag-start mag-communicate, doon na kami nananalo, and nage-enjoy na kami."

[When we started to communicate, that's when we started winning and enjoying the game.]

"Napapansin kasi na kapag hindi nagko-communicate, hindi masaya sa court," she added. "Parang nada-down 'yung team. So siguro, 'yun na ang solution – communication and have fun."

[If we don't communicate, we're not happy inside the court, and the team feels down. That's the solution – communication and having fun.]
