MANILA, Philippines ā Filipino figure skater Michael Martinez is headed to the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, after all.

The Filipino barely missed the Olympic qualifying cut as he finished in 8th place in the Nebelhorn Trophy in Germany last year. Only the Top 7 from that event would make it to South Korea for the Winter Games.

Martinez first captured the country's attention four years ago, when he became the Philippines' lone representative to the Sochi Olympics. He finished 19th overall at the time.
