MANILA - The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) has announced that airport terminal fee paid by overseas Filipino workers will be eliminated come March 2017.

Monreal said he has been in touch with international airline companies, hoping to lessen the burden of OFWs who line up at airport terminals just to claim their refund.

Early last year, MIAA implemented the International Passenger Service Charge (IPSC) in all air tickets for all international passengers.

Under the IPSC, the P550 airport terminal fee is integrated in all air tickets but OFWs who purchase their tickets online or overseas would need to line up to claim a refund at the airport terminals.

Monreal added that they are now in the process of redrafting the memorandum of agreement and is confident that international airline companies will keep their promise.
