MANILA - Married Filipinas traveling to Singapore must be careful in declaring their marital status to avoid arrest, the Philippine Embassy in Singapore said Tuesday.

The embassy said some Filipinas have been arrested at Singapore’s immigration checkpoints for allegedly misdeclaring their marital status in the embarkation/disembarkation card.

To avoid arrest, married Filipinas who previously visited Singapore using their maiden names should tick "Yes" opposite the question "Have you ever used a passport under a different name to enter Singapore?” in the embarkation/disembarkation card, the embassy said.

The embassy also advised married Filipinas, who are now using their husband’s surnames, to always bring a copy of their marriage contracts and previous passports when traveling to Singapore.
