Super Typhoon Lawin made landfall in Penablanca, Cagayan on Wednesday evening with maximum sustained winds of 225 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 315 kph.

PAGASA had predicted that its impact would be felt within a 800-km radius from its eye and advised the public to take extra precaution on the possible impact of the cyclone.

Local government units carried out preemptive evacuation in a bid to ensure the safety of its residents.

Here are some images submitted to Bayan Mo Ipatrol Mo (BMPM) showing the aftermath of Super Typhoon Lawin in the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela, and Ilocos Sur.

MANILA — Vice President Sara Duterte returned to Manila on Sunday evening after a nearly month-long stay in the Netherlands, where she helped her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, prepare for his case before the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The younger Duterte flew to the Netherlands on March 12, a day after her father was whisked away to the European country under the power of an arrest warrant from the ICC.

"Duterte arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Sunday, 06 April 2025, at approximately 9:56 PM (Philippine Standard Time) via Emirates Airlines flight no. EK 334," the Office of the Vice President (OVP) said in a statement.

"The Vice President is expected to address any pertinent matters in the coming days," the statement read.

The Vice President was the first Duterte family member to stand as their patriarch's next of kin while he was detained at the Scheveningen Prison, where he is awaiting his trial on charges of crimes against humanity linked to his administration's war on drugs.

While the younger Duterte assembled the former President's legal team, she said that they rarely talked about his case whenever she visited him in detention as she left legal matters to their chief legal counsel, Nicholas Kaufman.

Former President Duterte was arrested on March 11 shortly after he landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) from a gathering with overseas Filipino workers in Hong Kong.

The Duterte family had repeatedly blamed President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for authorizing the former president's arrest, when the Philippines withdrew from the Rome Statute in 2019.

Marcos Jr. said the Philippines could not ignore the arrest warrant as it was coursed through the Interpol.

Days before her return to the Philippines, Vice President Duterte thanked Marcos Jr. as the Duterte patriarch's arrest allowed her to rekindle her relationship with her father, while he is in detention.
