BAYAWAN CITY, NEGROS ORIENTAL - A 13-year-old grade eight student Elton Jaluag drowned in an 8-feet-deep swimming pool in Bayawan City on Saturday, police said.

Police Supt. Melchor Agusin, Bayawan City police chief, said the victim and his 12 other classmates were swimming in the pool and the victim, who did not know how to swim, drowned in the deep part of the pool.

Bayawan City Risk Reduction and Management Council officers who responded to the incident pulled the victim from the water, but were unable to revive him.

Jaluag was declared dead on arrival in a nearby hospital.
