Ronnie Dayan, Senator Leila de Lima's former driver and alleged bagman, on Tuesday admitted he resented his former boss a little for reportedly ignoring his calls for help.

"Medyo masama po [loob ko] pero di naman totally masama," Dayan said during a press conference at the House of Representatives, where he will be detained starting Tuesday.

Dayan was arrested by authorities in La Union on Tuesday. He went into hiding after being accused of receiving drug money from Bilibid inmates meant for De Lima's 2016 senatorial campaign.

But throughout his ordeal, Dayan said De Lima never contacted him.

She even ignored his attempts to contact her, he said.

"Ni isang text wala ako nareceive sa kanya... actually pinatext ko sa anak ko na humingi ka ng financial (help) kasi halos di na ako makakain, hindi siya nirereplyan," he said.

(I didn't receive even one text from her. I even asked my child to ask her for financial help because I didn't have money to buy food but she didn't reply.)

Earlier, Dayan admitted to having a seven-year relationship with De Lima.

On Tuesday night, he confirmed that the two of them lived together.

As for his message to her, he advised her to stay strong.

"Magpakatatag siya... labanan niya yung mga binabato sa kanya," he said.

(She should stay strong, she should fight all of the allegations thrown at her.)

De Lima, for her part, asked authorities to treat Dayan right. He is expected to testify before a House probe on the alleged narcotics trade inside the national penitentiary on Thursday.
