Around 30 high-powered firearms were recovered in Barangay Marinaut, Marawi City Sunday.

A joint combat operation composed of the 55th Infantry Battalion, Scout Ranger Test Mission Class 202 and other military units conducted a search and clearing operation in the vicinity of Bandariingin Mosque in the said barangay.

The group was able to recover the firearms underwater.

One of the members of the search group saw a weapon from the surface of the water and dove down to get it, discovering the rest of the firearms.

The military believed that the terrorists threw their firearms into the lake in the last hours of the firefight.

As of noontime, 30 firearms have already been recovered. It is assumed that more firearms are still underwater.
