MANILA - The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) office served Monday the dismissal order against Iloilo City Mayor Jed Mabilog, who was tagged by President Rodrigo Duterte as a narco-politician.

The Office of the Ombudsman confirmed Friday that it has ordered Mabilog's dismissal after he was found guilty of serious dishonesty for failing to declare sources of his wealth in his statement of assets, liabilities and net worth.

DILG-Western Visayas officials served a copy of the Ombudsman decision to Mabilog's lawyer Joenar Pueblo at the Iloilo City hall.

Based on his SALN, Mabilog's wealth increased by almost P9 million to P68,341,622.40 in 2013 from P59,358,539.89 in 2012 "due to his new real property and investments."

Mabilog has denied his alleged links to the narcotics trade.

He left the country with his wife and children amid fears he might be the next drug-linked politician to die under the Duterte administration.

Mabilog has yet to report back to work at the Iloilo City hall.
