MAGUINDANAO - Authorities searched on Tuesday the Maguindanao compound of Datu Saudi Ampatuan Mayor Samsudin Dimaukom, who was earlier tagged by President Rodrigo Duterte as a "narco-politician."

Regional Trial Court Branch 13 Judge Bansawan Ibrahim issued the search warrant against Dimaukom and three others identified as Abdulsalam Akil, Mohalidin Kadatuan and Nasro Dimaukom for illegal possession of drugs, firearms and ammunition, according to the Maguindanao Provincial Police Office.

No contraband was seized during the operation, which was done in the presence of Zaiton Dimaukom, president of the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) in Datu Saudi Ampatuan.

Dimaukom was reportedly on his way to Datu Saudi from Davao City when the raid happened.

"Tinawagan lang ako na may nag raid dito. Kaya nagulat ako pero wala namang problema basta legal lang ang ginagawa nila kasi batas naman yan. Kailangan sundin ang batas," he said.

[They just called me that a raid was happening. I was surprised but there's no problem as long it's legal. We need to follow the law.]

Dimaukom and his wife Vice Mayor Anida Dimaukom were both on Duterte's list of incumbent and retired government officials allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade.

But the couple has denied the allegations, even surrendering to authorities to clear their names.
