BOLINAO, Pangasinan - Two Vietnamese fishermen were killed in an encounter with the Philippine navy in the West Philippine Sea on Saturday.

The Northern Luzon Command said the Vietnamese were seen illegally fishing in waters 32 nautical miles off Bolinao, which is part of Philippine territory.

The Northern Luzon Command said they chased the Vietnamese fishermen who tried to evade arrest. The foreigners also fought naval authorities, prompting the navy to fire back.

The bodies of the 2 slain Vietnamese nationals were brought to a morgue, while their 5 companions were brought to the Bolinao police.
