Eduardo Gabriel, father of the slain teen, insisted the remains were really that of Reynaldo, even after police said the DNA sample from the body did not match samples taken from him and his wife.

Gabriel thought visiting operatives from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) were there to take the body when it delivered a letter requesting for another DNA test.

Gabriel insisted the body was of his son since it had markings distinct to Reynaldo.

A CIDG official spoke with De Guzman and assured him that they only wanted to request for additional tests and not forcibly take the body.

Since DNA results claimed the cadaver being mourned for was not Reynaldo's, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said the body must be seized right away.

PNP spokesman, Chief Supt. Dionardo Carlos said Gapan Police has been tasked to retrieve the unknown cadaver, place it in a funeral and begin the investigation since they already have the corpus delicti or body of evidence.

"Specifically there’s a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) under CIDG after the finding dahil nga na-release ang finding ng Deputy Chief for Operations, already gave the instruction to look into the case of the cadaver, and also to locate Kulot, yan po ang instruction," Carlos said.

Carlos added the family is not allowed to bury the body. The remains could be exhumed should another family claim the corpse.

The supposed body of the slain teen was peppered with stab wounds when it was recovered at a creek in Gapan, Nueva Ecija.

Reynaldo was the companion of 19-year-old Carl Angelo Arnaiz who was reportedly killed in a shootout with cops in Caloocan City after allegedly attempting to rob a taxi driver.
