SOUTH COTABATO - An explosion rocked the house of Vice Mayor Eliazar Jovero in Polomolok, South Cotabato at around 9 p.m. on Saturday.

Jovero said the explosion happened across their house inside their compound.

He and his wife were about to go to sleep when the explosion occurred.

“Nagpreparare kami na papasok sa kwarto. Pinatay ko yung ilaw, then, si misis kinuha 'yung saksakan ng TV. Tamang-tama nakatalikod na kami nung pumutok,” said the vice mayor.

The blast created a crater and it damaged the ceiling and shattered the window glasses of the house.

No one was hurt in the explosion but it caused scare to the vice mayor’s family.

According to the security guard in the residence, he saw two unidentified men riding a motorcycle stop near the house.

“Akala ko man mag-ihi lang yung isa. Tapos yung isa hindi man bumaba sa motor. 'Yun na lang bigla lang may sumabog,” said Antonio Piamonte, the security guard on duty.

(I thought one of them was just going to take a pee on the sidewalk. The other man remained in his motorcycle. Then suddenly, there was an explosion.)

Piamonte tried to chase the two, but they quickly fled away after the explosion.

He also failed to take note of the plate number of the getaway motorcycle.

The police said they will conduct follow-up investigation because according to the vice mayor, he has not received any death threat.

“Wala tayong kalaban na sabihing posible na gagawa sila dahil may problema. Nang-harass siguro, hindi ko maintindihan ang pakay nila,” said Jovero.

(I do not have any enemies who would do such a thing. Maybe they just want to harass me. I have no idea on what they want from me.)
