MANILA - Smoking and drinking along the white beach of Boracay will no longer be allowed, Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said Tuesday.

"Ang pinag-usapan namin last week nung Wednesday ni Secretary (Roy) Cimatu at Secretary (Eduardo) Año, may mga guidelines na tulad ng bawal na ang uminom at magsigarilyo sa public beach, sa white beach," Romulo-Puyat told radio DZMM.

"Pwede ka mag-paa, hindi ka matatakot na baka masugatan ang paa mo dahil biglang may broken bottle pala, tapos alam mo yung nilalakaran mo ay talagang sand at hindi abo ng sigarilyo," she said.

Romulo-Puyat earlier said big, noisy parties like the ones held during Labor Day, or 'Laboracay' will no longer be allowed when the island reopens to tourists in October.
