An inter-agency task force held anti-terror simulation exercises in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental Saturday morning in a bid to enhance preparedness for potential attacks.
Joint Task Force Leon Kilat, which includes members of the police, coast guard, military, other national agencies and private entities, is tasked to respond in case of attacks by terrorists or other groups in the province.
General Oscar Lactao, commander of the Philippine Army's Central Command, gave the demonstration a grade of 85, saying he would have wanted the task force to simulate response to other situations such as a hostage-taking and casualty evacuation.
But Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo and Police Regional Office 18 Director Chief Supt. Edmund Gonzales made the assurance that the task force is prepared to face any attack.
Among exercises the task force performed were setting up a checkpoint, dealing with firefights, safe bomb detonation, and open water pursuit.
