MANILA - "Maling mali."

This was how Buhay Party-List Rep. Lito Atienza described Monday the clean up-drive headed last week by Manila Mayor Joseph "Erap" Estrada which critics described as a publicity stunt.

A video of an ABS-CBN News report showed trash being dumped into the Manila Bay for Estrada to pick up.

"You cannot have photo opportunity [cleanup drive] tapos magtatapon ka ng basura," Atienza, a former mayor of the capital, told ABS-CBN News after Congress opened its 2nd Regular Session.

Atienza questioned the intention of local officials, saying they cannot encourage the public to clean the bay if they pollute it themselves.

"Masamang example ito para sa publiko," he said.

He added that someone should be held liable over the incident.

NO TO DRUG KILLINGS

Atienza is set to attend President Rodrigo Duterte's second State of the Nation Address (SONA) later Monday.

He said he expects Duterte to discuss the terrorist-led attacks in Marawi City and the country's drug scourge.

Atienza slammed the alleged killings and the "deterioration of culture of life" under the administration's war on drugs.

"The culture of death should be a concern to all of us. Sana linawin ng Pangulo kung ano ang plano niya laban sa droga," Atienza said.

"Killings and execution are not the solution. Ang kailangan ibang solution na pang mahabaan."
