Nakatengga ngayon sa general aviation area ng Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) ang 80-seater na eroplano ng Skyjet Airlines na pagmamay-ari ng Magnum Air, Inc.

Naglabas ng forfeiture order ang Bureau of Customs (BOC) dahil sa hindi pagbabayad ng karampatang duties and taxes ng naturang kompanya.

Ayon kay Subic District Collector Carmelita Talusan, taong 2014 pa natapos ang pagiging registered locator sa Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) ng mga eroplano ng Magnum Air kaya dapat na silang magbayad ng buwis.

Pero ang nakumpiskang Skyjet plane, lumilipad pa rin bilang commercial plane hanggang Marso 2017.

Sa pagtataya ng BOC, higit P90 milyon ang dapat bayarang duties and taxes ng Magnum Air, bukod sa iba pang multa na posible umanong umabot sa bilyon-bilyong piso.

"More of tax evasion. It is an act na on their own alone [ginawa nila]," ani BOC Commissioner Isidro Lapeña.

Sa pahayag ng kompanya, sinabi nitong ang dating may-ari ng eroplano ang nagkaproblema at hindi sila.

"The current owners of Magnum Air has filed a case of Syndicated Estafa as early as February 2016 against the previous management for illegal acts and other irregularities, a copy of the complaint has been submitted to BOC in the seizure proceedings," saad ng pahayag.

Nakipagtulungan din umano sila sa BOC at handa nilang bayaran ang sinisingil na buwis para sa nakumpiskang eroplano.

"While the subject aircraft was legally admitted upon first importation as shown by documents submitted to the BOC seizure proceedings, the present management has long submitted its willingness to settle any tax and duty obligation that may be legally due on the subject aircraft," pahayag ng Magnum Air.

Pero ayon sa BOC, kailangang dumaan muna ito sa legal na proseso.
