MANILA – What was supposed to be an ordinary school day for three students ended tragically when a truck crashed into them in Manila.

A closed-circuit television footage showed a truck carrying sand and hollow blocks hitting three students at the corner of Legarda and Concepcion Aguila Street.

The three students were identified as Clarence Ray Ocampo, a second year engineering student from Technological Institute of the Philippines; and Daphne Lucero and Mica Francisco, both students of National Teachers College.

Ocampo, who sustained the worst injuries among the victims, was rushed to Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center.

Lucero and Francisco, on the other hand, were brought to Mary Chiles General Hospital.

The truck driver, only identified as Raffy, was seen in the footage attempting to help the victims. He, however, eventually fled the scene.

Authorities are now reaching the driver's employer, P. Casal Construction Supply. – report from Dennis Datu, dzMM
