MANILA - Vice President Leni Robredo on Friday said she hopes President Rodrigo Duterte will take precautions amid supposed threats to his life and drug lords reportedly offering "billions" for his head.

Duterte, who has waged a bloody fight against drug traffickers and criminals, yesterday said he was leaving his fate to God.

Duterte also said the country has nothing to worry about since the vice president is there to succeed him, as provided under the Constitution.

"Sabi ko, 'Huwag naman, Mr. President. Kailangan mag-iingat pa din kasi kailangan pa kayo ng bansa'," said Robredo in a press conference on Friday, a day after Duterte appointed her chair of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council.

"Totoo na may succession under the Constitution, pero yung binoto ng mga tao sa pagka-Pangulo si Pangulong Duterte...

"Kung ako, totoong maraming mga threat pero, mas mabuti na nagiingat pa din."

Robredo also assured that she would be against the Islamic State or ISIS in the event she succeeds Duterte.
