Vice President Leni Robredo has laughed off memes depicting her and President Rodrigo Duterte as Philippines' newest must-watch love team.

"Oh my God," was all Robredo could say when asked about her reaction to conversations and memes that pushed the #Dubredo pairing.

But Robredo appears cool with it too, saying it's a sign of relief for many Filipinos.

"Palagay ko because over the course of more than a month all that was ever written about us was we weren't seeing eye to eye. When we finally met na mukhang maayos naman, I think many Filipinos were relieved," Robredo told Tina Palma on ANC's Talkback Monday.

Robredo said her children were happy to see her and Duterte talking nicely.

"Actually happy sila. Concerned sila noong una. 'Naku magkikita kayo ni president ano kaya sasabihin niya sa inyo,'" Robredo added.

In fact, after her Monday meeting with the president, one of her children immediately called her to get updates, Robredo said.

"Kasasakay ko lang car tumatawag na anak ko nagpapakwento na.
They were interested to [find out] what transpired," she added.

Last Friday, Duterte and Robredo met for the first time at Camp Aguinaldo for the turnover ceremonies of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

Duterte, the country's first septuagenarian president, acknowledged Robredo's presence and seemed pleased to meet the former congresswoman.

"This is my first time to meet you personally, ma'am. I would have preferred to be seated beside you but andiyan si Defense [Secretary Delfin Lorenzana] eh," he said, drawing laughter from the crowd.
Duterte was also seen offering a bottle of coconut water to Robredo and shaking hands with her.

Robredo ran for VP under the Liberal Party banner, defeating Duterte's running mate Senator Alan Peter Cayetano.

Robredo was also not invited to Duterte's inaugural ceremony at the Palace.

In May, Duterte said he would not appoint Robredo to a Cabinet position as he did not want his "friend" Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. to get hurt.
