MANILA - Former Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. on Thursday maintained that his earnings from show business contributed to his wealth, as he faced a plunder trial over the alleged anomalous disbursement of his pork barrel funds.

Revilla, accused by the Office of the Ombudsman of amassing P224.5 million from the Priority Development Assistance Fund scam, missed the first day of the trial at the Sandigabayan First Division last week due to hypertension.

During Thursday's proceedings, the prosecution presented their fourth witness, Junilyn Pagunsan, a field investigator at the Office of the Ombudsman.

The prosecution and the defense stipulated that Pagunsan received affidavits which led to the filing of the plunder complaint against Revilla.

Revilla's lawyer Atty. Ramon Esguerra then cross-examined Pagunsan and asked her if she also investigated the former senator's earnings from his production outfit and stint as actor and TV host.

Pagunsan admitted that these were not covered by the Ombudsman's probe.

In an interview after the trial, Revilla reiterated that he also has earnings from his various projects as a celebrity.

"Ang pinoint out lang ng ating lawyer, kumbaga, kung naimbestigahan ba nila ilang pelikula nagawa ko, sa production outfit at sa TV na nagawa ko, so iyung mga ganoon, para mas klaro kung kaya ko bang kumita ng ganoong amount kung meron man silang makita sa bank account ko," Revilla said.

Prosecutor Joefferson Toribio pointed out that the Anti-Money Laundering Council has already reported that "there were unexplained amounts that entered the accounts of Sen. Revilla."

The trial will resume next Thursday.

IN BETTER HEALTH

For now, Revilla said he is feeling better after his blood pressure soared when he visited his ailing father, former senator Ramon Revilla Sr.

The younger Revilla however said his own creatinine, cholesterol and uric acid levels were still a bit high even after he underwent hospital confinement.

"Pero imagine nagwo-workout ako everyday, 3 hours... Ganoon siguro medyo tumatanda na tayo," Revilla said.

He also shared that his father's condition has improved. "Nasa bahay na siya. Mahaba pa ang buhay ni Agimat," he said in reference to a movie role of his father.

Revilla was accompanied by his wife, Bacoor Mayor Lani Mercado.
