MANILA - An official of Resorts World Manila (RWM) said on Friday the facility has been vacated and placed on lockdown after reports of gunfire around midnight on Friday.

“We have evacuated the building to make sure that our patrons and our staff are safe. The building is on lockdown state until we clear the area,” the casino’s Chief Operating Officer Stephen Reilly said.

He added that authorities were immediately alerted to respond to the situation.

“The fire service and other emergency service were called to our aid. We're still investigating the situation. The PNP [Philippine National Police] is on site,” he said.

Guests and employees of the casino have temporarily moved to another hotel while investigations are being done.

Reilly said authorities are searching the area to make sure the building is clear.

As of posting, Reilly claimed there are no reported injuries.

The casino official asked for understanding while their management is dealing with the matter.

“If you can please allow me to deal with the situation with my management team so everybody is safe, we can continue with business.”
