MANILA (5th UPDATE) - Gunfire shook Resorts World Manila in Pasay City around midnight Friday.

Multiple gunshots were heard in the background while ABS-CBN News' April Rafales was reporting live about the incident.

Eyewitnesses told police that gunmen in the incident were wearing masks and black shirts.

Several people were seen injured, but police have yet to confirm possible casualties.

A Resorts World Manila official said emergency services were called and police are now at the site.

Philippine National Police Special Action Force troops, as well PNP Director General Ronald dela Rosa, were seen in the area, according to DZMM's Michael Delizo.

A part of the hotel-casino complex was also on fire, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said.

Fire trucks and Army trucks were also seen going to the Resorts World Manila area.

Hessa Isabelle, who lives near Resorts World Manila, posted a video with gunshots also being heard in the background.

A casino employee told DZMM Teleradyo that there was a fire on the 2nd floor, while the gunshots could be heard in a restaurant also on the same floor.

Another employee who described himself as a casino dealer said that one of the attackers spilled flammable liquid on one of the casino tables and set it on fire.

The resort-casino area has been put on lock down, Resorts World Manila said in a statement.

"The company is working closely with the Philippine National Police to ensure that all guests and employees are safe. We ask for your prayers during these difficult times," the statement said.

The US State Department has also issued a short advisory to its citizens about the incident. "#Manila #Philippines - reports of explosions/gunfire at Resorts World Manila, near the Manila Intl Airport. Avoid area & monitor local news," it said in a tweet.

ARMED MAN IN BLACK

Princess Ting, 18, who was at the casino resort with her parents, recalled seeing a man dressed in black fire a shot in the air from a long firearm, setting off panic near the casino floor on the hotel's second level.

"Na-shock ako, magulo tapos lahat nagtakbuhan," Ting said.

The suspect's face was also covered in black cloth, but Ting said he looked like a foreigner from his built to his sharp features.

"Very worried kami kasi naiwan siya nang walang kasama," said Princess' mother, Cristina, who was in another part of the building when the incident happened.

Mother and daughter met each other in front of the casino facade, where white smoke billowed as police and fire trucks arrived.
