MANILA- Senate President Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III is set to remarry this year, his fiancée confirmed on Wednesday.

Speaking to ABS-CBN News, Pimentel's fiancée Kathryn Yu said the wedding has already been set this year.

"Malapit na (It's soon)," Yu said.

Asked if the wedding will happen before the filing of certificates of candidacy for senatorial aspirants in October, Yu simply nodded and smiled.

Pimentel is a reelectionist senator.

Asked whether she can be called "Mrs. Pimentel" during the State of the Nation Address in July, Yu answered: "Yes, sana...Basta malapit na."

Pimentel, meanwhile, was initially shocked and speechless when asked about the wedding details.

He later said a wedding between him and Yu will be confirmed once Senate reporters get an invite.

Pimentel officially announced his separation from his wife, Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 1998 Jewel May Lobaton, in May 2012.

They were married for nearly 12 years and have two sons.
