MANILA - (UPDATED/CORRECTED) Traffic enforcers on Monday morning towed an illegally parked vehicle of a lawmaker in Quezon City.

The Metro Manila Development Authority said the towed Hyundai Tuczon, with plate number 8, belongs to Albay Rep. Edcel Lagman.

It was illegally parked in front of a condominium along Scout Borromeo Street near EDSA, enforcers said.

But the authorities said it was the lawmaker's grandson, TJ, who was using the vehicle.

The younger Lagman said he asked the driver to drop him off the condominium where he lives.

He admitted forgetting to tell the driver to proceed to the garage instead of the parking on the side of the street.

"Wala namang magagawa, kasalanan ko naman," he said. (That's my fault.)

The MMDA issued a ticket to the lawmaker's son. The fine Lagman would pay costs around P2,500 to P3,500.

MMDA spokesperson Celine Pialago said this is not the first time their personnel towed a vehicle with a special license plate. --report from Anjo Bagaoisan, ABS-CBN News
