MANILA - Detained Senator Leila de Lima on Monday received a visit from her fellow opposition senators.

Senators Franklin Drilon, Francis Pangilinan, Antonio Trillanes IV, and Risa Hontiveros arrived 11 a.m. at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Quezon City, where De Lima has been detained since February for alleged involvement in the drug activities of convicted criminals.

ABS-CBN sources said that shortly before arriving at Camp Crame, De Lima's visitors held a caucus about the proposed measures which they feel should be prioritized by the upper chamber.

Drilon, leader of the the Senate minority, earlier said his colleagues should focus on proposed amendments to the Revenue Code of the Philippines and other tax-related bills.

He has also guaranteed that senators allied with the Liberal Party will not support the controversial death penalty bill pending in the Senate.

De Lima and her visitors are expected to discuss her intention to file a motion to be allowed to attend or actively participate in the deliberations of important measures.

"I have work to do as a senator and I will continue to do so because I owe it to the more than 14 million Filipino people who voted me in office and represent them in the Senate," De Lima said in a statement, a day before Congress ends its Lenten recess.
