Residents of Barangay Poblacion in Carcar City in southern Cebu this week flocked to a house where the homeowner alleged that blood is flowing from a laminated image of Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary.

Val Sandiego said the pigmented stain appeared at about noon on Thursday. Late in the afternoon, he said the same phenomenon happened to an image of Saint Veronica, whom Sandiego says is more than 130 years old.

A devout Catholic, Sandiego said he is not sure if the so-called "shedding of tears of blood" is a form of miracle, but he is ready to follow whatever God asks of him.

With the images taking part in a procession, he has sought additional security for this weekend's event.

Sandiego said the parish priest of the local Saint Catherine de Alexandria church has already seen the images but has not issued any statement.
