MANILA - Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno on Monday renewed her call for the inhibition of 5 Supreme Court justices on the hearings on the quo warranto petition that seeks to nullify her appointment.

Speaking at the Valor Day event of the group Movement Against Tyranny, the embattled chief magistrate said she doubts these justices can be fair as they have already made pronouncements against her.

"They have already made pronouncements against me in the House. How can they be fair when they judge me? Some had already said that I am disqualified," Sereno said.

"Some had already said that I benefited from an unjust shortlisting. Some had already said that they have been so hurt personally in their relationship with me. So they must inhibit under the compulsory rules of mandatory inhibition," she added.

Sereno's camp has filed recusal pleas against her colleagues Associate Justices Teresita Leonardo-De Castro, Diosdado Peralta, Lucas Bersamin, Francis Jardeleza and Noel Tijam.

These were magistrates who earlier testified against Sereno during the House justice committee's hearing on the Chief Justice's impeachment case.

The Supreme Court is set to hold oral arguments on the quo warranto case on April 10 in Baguio City. Sereno is expected to attend the proceedings.
