President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday said he will help provide livelihood to the indigenous people in Mindanao.

"Bibigyan ko kayo ng libo-libong tractor at seedlings," he said.

Duterte was a guest speaker at the 16th founding anniversary of the Supreme Tribal Council for Peace and Development held at the 3rd Infantry Battalion in Barangay Malagos Baguio District, Davao City.

The president, however, asked the Lumad to stop supporting the New People's Army.

Duterte, in February, also vowed to set aside P100 million for the Lumad for agricultural development in their ancestral lands.

In his speech, Duterte also said he will send colorum drivers and operators to jail in the wake of the bus accident in Occidental Mindoro that claimed 19 lives.

"Ikulong lahat ng driver pati operators. Ikulong talaga. Para magtanda," he said.

Check-ups and drug tests will be regularly conducted to drivers, especially those who are traveling long distances. - report from Vina Araneta, ABS-CBN News
