MANILA - Malacañang on Thursday brushed aside British-American actress Hayley Atwell’s cancellation of her Philippine visit.

Atwell, known to many as Agent Peggy Carter in the first two "Captain America" movies, reportedly cancelled her scheduled appearance in the 2018 ComicCon Asia due to perceived “political unrest” in the Philippines.

Asked for comment, Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque dismissed Atwell's decision.

This is not the first time Atwell cancelled her trip to the Philippines. Two years ago, she was supposed to be part of the second AsiaPOP Comicon in Manila due to a conflict in her schedule in connection with the actress' then upcoming series "Conviction."
