Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said she wanted to resign from her post as Davao City mayor, as revealed by her father in a speech Sunday.
The president's eldest daughter, however, said she does not want to dwell on the issue.
"It happened in the past, I don't want to dwell sa nahitabo na (sa nangyari na)," she told ABS-CBN News.
Sara added her father only talked about the first part of her letter.
"If you remember naghimo ko (gumawa ako) letter, he did not divulge the whole letter. He only read the first part of the letter," she said.
"I said, 'Do not run because you do not need it' but at the end part of the letter, there was a promise from my end that I will support him, whatever his decision may be. That's why nidagan ko kay nidagan man siya (tumakbo ako dahil tumakbo sya)," Sara added.
Duterte on Sunday revealed that his daughter gave her a resignation letter last July 1, a day after she took her oath as Davao City mayor.
"June 30 kami nag-oath, lahat ng public officials. Alam mo pagka-July 1, nag-file ng resignation," Duterte said.
The elder Duterte served as Davao City mayor for more than two decades, while Sara first served as mayor from 2010 to 2013. - with a report from Vina Araneta, ABS-CBN News
