Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano on Thursday said an impeachment move against President Rodrigo Duterte is possible, but will be difficult.

Alejano, an ally of Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, also admitted that impeaching Duterte is unlikely to prosper because the administration controls Congress.

"Pwedeng magkaroon ng impeachment, but it's a political process also. Ibig sabihin may suporta ba? Especially now we have a supermajority in Congress and even in the Senate," Alejano said.

He said support for Duterte was evident in the recent Senate hearing wherein retired SPO3 Arturo Lascañas gave his testimony on the alleged Davao Death Squad.

Alejano, however, said that anybody can file an impeachment and be sponsored by a member of the House.

House leaders, under whose watch any impeachment will have to be initiated, were unperturbed.

House Majority Leader Rodolfo Fariñas said, "No reaction, as there is no action."

House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, meanwhile said, "Wake up. The morning is over!"

Alejano appealed to the administration not to resort to the filing of weak impeachment cases to inoculate the President from a stronger impeachment case.

Under the Constitution, only one impeachment case may be filed against the same official in a year.

"Ginawa na ho iyan ng nakaraang mga administrasyon. Nangyari na ho iyan, kada taon may nagfa-file para ma-preempt iyung mga tunay na magfa-file ng impeachment," Alejano said.

Alejano also dismissed talks of destabilization plots against the Duterte administration.

"Inuulit ulit ko ho ang gumagawa ng destabilization sa gubyernong ito ay sila ho mismo," he said.
